I've got a pair of LM finger gauntlets...

and except for the occasional smack right
on the end of the thumb ( and I do mean
occasional and I do mean RIGHT on
the end of the thumb ) they are great!

But it looks like it might be time to replace
the gloves.... and while that was happening
I was wondering about the possibility of
getting a new thumb tip made that would
'cup' the tip of the thumb a little more to help
with the thumb smashing issue.....

I like the red gloves that are in them now
but wouldn't even begin to know where to
look for new ones like them.

Barter would be great if possible, if not I understand...

Once the deal is set quick turn around would be really
appreciated also as these are my primary hand protection
for all weapons forms.

How do they hold up to SCA combat abuse?

The cuff would need to be shortened to match the bell
on the gauntlet....but that's a minor alteration...

I think Murdock is doing my squire Odo's that are exactly the same.

Same problem, same gauntlets. His thumb and one finger ripped out and he needs a new glove.

I own a set of these. They are NOT thin dress gloves. They are single layer, but, the ones I have came from James B. he used them in a set of SCA gauntlets.

If you are looking for a padded version:

I am looking at purchasing a set of these to use in my mitten gauntlets to forgo any other padding.

Are they padded just on the backs of the hand and fingers...hmmmm
that might work.....

It looks like they are, but its hard to 100% certain....

and, you won't have to cut them to fit them to the metal!

I think they are, like you said I can't be 100% certain, but since they are for WMA sparing and those guys want to keep as much of the subtle "feel" they get from the sword they can, I think they are only padded on the backs of the hands and fingers.

That is why I am ordering a pair. :)
