Just like the title says. I need a piece of brass that's about 4" square, and is an 1/8" thick.

Lemme know what you've got and how much you want for it.

Thanks!
Cat

Holy crap, it's THAT much? I thought it would be a couple bucks! I may have to rethink this.

I could get by with a 2" x 2" piece, so if anyone has that, I would like to hear about it. The piece needs some cutouts made, so I was trying to leave finger space (so no fingers get lost) by getting a bigger piece.

Hal, I don't know if 14 gauge would work, but it's possible. I'm already planning on epoxying a few pieces together to build up to the size I need, so maybe I could just epoxy several pieces of 14 gauge together to get an 1/8" thick piece.

How much would you want for enough 4" x 4" pieces of 14 gauge to equal 1/8"? At this poit, I would not be opposed to getting the smaller 2" x 2" pieces if there is a significant difference in price.

Lemme know. Thanks!

Cat,
I will have to look when I get home, but I have quite a bit of brass, some heavy gauge and plate. I will give you what you need for free, in appreciation. Email me if I haven't gotten back to you by tomorrow.

Eric, that is VERY kind of you, but I would want to pay you for what you have. I would not feel right about getting it for free. I DO appreciate the offer though!

Anywho, let me know what you've got.

Thanks so much!

Losthelm,
I will be sure to do that. Thanks! Either brass or bronze would work.

I am indeed attempting to make a knife. I am trying to make a flyssa type long knife/short sword for my nephew for Christmas (don't worry, he's an adult), but it has proven to be far more of a logistical challenge than what I was prepared for. I need to epoxy up enough brass to make a 5/8" wide pommel blank, and I already have a piece of 1/4" brass. I can get the two outer sandwhich pieces from that, but I need the 1/8" piece for the middle. I could probably try to grind a piece of the 1/4" down to 1/8", but I would probably not be able to get it perfectly smooth - which it needs to be so there's no gaps in my sammich. :)

If all else fails, I could use some other material for the middle, but I am concerned about differring hardnesses, as the piece will need filed to shape and then etched.

If it turns out ok, I will post pics. :)

Thanks again,
Cat
