NEW EFFIGY: Lord Chamberlain Stibor: early 15th cent fans!

Here is the latest sculpture we are producing.

The Lord Chamberlain Stibor, Hungarian. Generally dated to the first quarter or so of the 15th century.

He is roughly 11 inches tall !

(obviously, he isnt finished yet.....

This is one of about 70 effigies sculptures in the works.

When we have amassed about 5-10 sculptures I will begin sales for these.
(tentatively priced at a very affordable 45 bucks for armour aficionados to
adorn their office walls, den, hallway, bedroom etc.)

Unlike the dark clay you see here, the finished pieces will be cast in a
variety of easier to see tones & materials, some possibly painted.

My objective is a sort of "effigy of the month," as well as a collector's club
which would include such perks as discounts and opportunities to acquire
select pieces that will only be offered to members of the collectors club.
Cool stuff like that.

As always, we are taking requests. I love hearing your ideas!

If we decide to produce your piece you will get it free and signed and
numbered by the artist.

Very Nice...I still say you need to have Walter vonHohenklingon.....His effigy is the bomb....

That is sweet! When will these be available?

I second the nomination for Walter. If you are going to do old Walt then you need to have good pics from the side. The bascinet visor is only truly understandable from the side.

Walter and a slew of German fellas are coming right around the corner. They demand a certain extra attention because I, like you, am equally fond of the details we see in these 14th century effigies.

With some exceptions, my objective is to produce them in rotational volleys:

ie, one from the 13th century.....the next from the 14th century....the next from the 15th century.....the next from the 16th century....

and then back to the 13th century....14th century, etc.

you mean this is actually something worth doing after the 14C...

O Yeah..there's that one guy in ToMAR that has the scale fauld thats really cool from 1415...Have to look up his name and get back to you...that one would be awesome(but not with awesomesauce...That's resevred ONLY for ole' Walter.....

OOOPS...it was 1420...Hans Haberkorn...Thats actually a really cool assed effigy....You should think of his...it's on pg.334 in ToMAR

Hmm, indeed I have a big file of effigy images. :wink:

I love Haberkorns scale skirt, it was one of my first suits.

Not "generally" fifteenth century. DEFINITELY 15c. Son of the Voivod of Transylvania (one of the founding members of the Order of the Dragon), and involved in the Hussite campaigns, and also a member of the Order of the Dragon, to which he also belonged (hence the Dragon pin on the shoulder, which will be in your reproductions, right?

For you Russ....sure

I was wondering if anyone would catch my 'general' term. Rather what I meant was the effigy is dated somewhat broadly between 1410 and 1440.

It has fascinating elements to it...the cuisses, the small plackart, etc

Moved, not X-posted, but yes, it was moved.

The reason I did is that it does not seem to be a tutorial, guide, or anything else for others. It also isn't armour, though there's slack on that point as a general rule. Add to that, the intent appears to be to gather interest for upcoming sales.

Well sure its to gather future interest!

But I would submit that the nature of the beast is armour construction related....meaning that details and the interpretation of details are part of the overall design and construction dialogue.....its amazing what details you begin to spot when you have to sculpt something ! :wink:
