I know this is a stab in the dark! (Please dont throw rocks at me) I will trade all of my SCA gear/garb/heavy fighting gear/rapier gear/research books plus much more worth over $3000 plus total. For a Harley Davidson motorcycle in almost any condition fixer-uper is fine. Ill pick up or drop off (for the deal) in or around the Las Vegas/Nevada/Cali Arizona border areas. Please give me a PM for possible deals and list of things.
don't do it bro!

look do yourself a favor and get another motorcycle besides a Harley. Trade your stuff for a BMW or anything. But not a Harley. I have had Harleys and it is not worth the trouble or the money.
I am not speaking out of my ass here either and I am sure I will get a lot of wanabes na-saying me but do not trade good stuff for a Harley. I have been riding motorcycles my whole life. I have always had a motorcycle. I work on my own bike for the most part.
Advice--If you are wanting to build a chopper then use and S&S engine. People will have yo believe that it is the same as a Harley engine but those people have no idea what they are talkling about. S&S engines are made to a higher standard and to thell the truth cost about the same.
However!
If you want to be working on your bike all the time while others are out riding then get Harley. Or if you don't work on your bike the and money is not object then get a Harley. Gene Lummas in Asheville, NC will be happy to charge to almost 250 bucks just for them to look at your bike and do nothing. If that does not bother you then get a Harley. if you want somethig just ot tinker around the garage with then get a Harley.
hey look man I am just giving you advice. Yea it is cool to ride a Harley and there is nothing more beautiful than one just sitting there and shining but here is how I look at it.
A bike is like a woman. You can have a trophy wife/bike but she is really high maintance or you can have a more reaonable model that you can both ride and look at. You take your pick. Personally I like to ride.

Yea, i shouldnt do this, bout you have hit a string with me.. and i am far from wannabe....
Your assessment of the single brand is way off base. I have over 100k on my bike, and have only done basic maintenance on it. I also have a '59 ironhead sportster that is nothing but a dream. if you build it right the first time, you will not have problems.
Your comments on the after-market V twins, however, is right on the money.
if you are building something, and you want to be able to register it easily, get a harley frame, (you need the VIN to register it without a pound and a half of paperwork, and emission tests) and drop a revtech or an S&S in it.
I am sorry that you have had a bad experience, but as you said, motorcycles are like women. if you treat them right, they will stay with you forever. You can, and will get bikes from any manufacturer that are headaches.
On the same not, $3000 isnt going to get you much in a harley. If you are really serious about getting one, i suggest going over to
http://www.cyclespot.com/forums/index.php and look around. everyone there is friendly, and you will get a ton of good advice about whatever you are loking for.

And Spring doth commence to agitate the soul and spark the imagination.....doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you keep the shiny side up.

Good luck to you.

$3000 is just to get me through the door along with another $1000 in cash for a decent fixer upper. What Ill have to do is go ahead and sell/liquidate everything and then use the cash that way. Thanks for the advice everyone. But I dont want a bicker riot on this thread about bikes its about armour afterall

Almost anything done after drinking soju is forgivable. Almost. I'm not sure about this one, though.

Gotta give them points for tenacity, and stamina. I'm pretty sure I've never stuck with a joke for 8 hours, and while I probably have stayed drunk for that long, not coherently.

On the plus side, if you DO have to kill them, they've already got plenty of formaldehyde in their system...
