The Armour Archive

I am looking for an edition of the chronicle which is fairly scholarly and can be trusted to be true in its transcriptions. Anybody have any opinions of any?

Dorothy Whitlock edited a version years ago, but I think it's been surpassed.

Sorry, it's Dorothy Whitelock, and her edition was published in 1961.

A more authoritative editon of the A-S Chronicle is, "The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle: a collaborative edition." This is a large, multi-volume work, edited by Dumville, et al, since 1983. The sets ISBN: 085991125X. According to OCLC, it's available at Brown Univ. & University of Rhode Island, and many other libraries.

Kenric- You say "trascriptions"-- so you want the Old English text? Or just a translation?

If the latter, unless you're working on a scholarly publicaton, you'll probably be fine with

I'm actually trying to document some names that appear there so I'm trying to get an edition that has been fiddled with as little as possible. So an OE edition would be better. I'll look through this version and see if it contains what I'm looking for or is at least usable.
