Period padding?15th cent. Ottoman

I've got a helm on order now, I can just pad it with blue foam but I'd rather not.

Anyone know what padding I should use? Would a small 'turban' or headscarf that is removable from the helm be appropriate?

I think it would be interesting to have my head covering be sepearate from the helm and could be worn as regular head wear while not on the field.

hhhmmm.....I guess when the helm shows up I'll experiment with different idea's.

I've yet to find any example of how padding was used in an Ottoman helmet.
