My Great Grandmother's husband, and his father were reknowned orchid breeders, and as such traveled the world (and had some money), and they tended to collect things.

One of the things was a series of tiles, which they had set around the fireplace, and later, when they moved, my GGM had them pulled from the wall, and most set into a table, and two framed. I got the two framed ones today, and figured ya'll would like to see them.. I'll get photos of the either 8 or 10 which are in the table, but they are more of the same theme.

These were probably brought back late 1800s or so, maybe early 1900s.

Beyond that, I have no idea of the provenance, but they are pretty good pictures!

I might be able to get snaps of the rest tomorrow.. these are just the two "loners" my Mom gave me.. (I'll get the table someday too.. just not.. well, we won't go there).

If I remember correctly, the rest are the same "theme" half martial, half pastoral.. but I could be off.. I've only been looking at the table for 20 years, but never paying attention to it, you know? LOL.

A little more digging reveals that my great great grandfather immigrated from Germany in the 1800s (born in 1844) so it's possible he brought these with him when he did, which could put them in the family even longer.
