Online Armour Drawings

Post by Lloyd »

About 10 years ago or so, there was a collection of detailed Italian Armour drawings on the internet. They showed various kits, front and back, and I know that I used them at least twice to inform an armourer of what I was looking for.

Anyone know remember this site and know if it still exists??

Thanks

Lloyd,

I have them saved somewhere, but can't find them quickly, if no one gets them to you by the end of the weekend, PM me an email address and I'll find and send them to you.

I assume those are the line drawings from the Mantova book. They are a nice assortment of drawings. I know someone had scanned them, but I never copied them from wherever they were.

Thanks,

I have all of those in the book, but I hadn't scanned them.

Maybe we are channeling "Spinal Tap" -

Where is 11?

I couldn't find 11 on my disk. I fear I didn't grab it when I was cleaning up my personal files on my work computer ( It pays to be the head IT guy) when I was getting ready to leave that particular place of employment.

I checked my file stash at work today (and meant to bring them home but forgot).....

There are 42 original diagrams.

So you guys are missing 20 of them. Do you want me to bring them to you?

Yes please!
Also- is there an index to show which harnesses are represented in each drawing, and their dates?
I'm pretty sure that 1 & 2 are Churburg #18, 3 & 4 look like the "Avant" harness, 7 & 8 are another Churburg harness (don't know the number, the Galeazzo D'Arco), and 17& 18 might be the Schwabish-Gmund harness, but the rest... although it's fairly obvious that they're arranged in chronological order.
Cheers,

I didn't say I owned the book ! :P

Do you know how much that sucker costs !!!! That book runs about $1,000 literally. And that is if you can find a copy. I just copied the files a couple of years ago when someone posted them to the archive.

I'll have to post them on Monday. Dummy me forgot (again, sorry) to bring them home from work. My job has been a real PITA lately.

Number 11 is the front of the harness displayed on the effigy of Richard de Beauchamp I believe.

Hey Lloyd, I know it's not specifically what you're looking for, but thought you might want to see these too if you're looking to piece together a suit:

You're welcome. They are scans of photocopies that a 20 year Laurel armorer gave me about 10 years ago, from a book by Boccia. I've never seen the actual book they came from anywhere. They're perfect for photoshopping different pieces together to get a general look of a harness, much easier than working with actual photos. I love 'em.

James, I took the separate images and merged them into a single pdf document if you want a copy. I find them (a single pdf) much quicker to leaf through to find and browse quickly.

Definitely, please. I made one a while ago and forgot to upload it, and don't have access to a full copy of Adobe Acrobat any more to make one. Thanks!
