War of the Roses Event - Pictures

Post by JJ Shred »

The Knights of St. Denys first War of the Roses timeline at the Muster on the Mauwee, Ft. Miegs, Ohio was a success. Not knowing what the facilities were, we didn't take the horses, but next year we will. Check out the pictures at:

and tell me what you think!

Looks like you had a great time. But say what you may that armour just is not the best for foot combat Image Still looks like a good weekend!

WOW! That is awsome Kit. How many people were there with that quality of full harness? How many people showed up? What did the festivities involve?

Basically I'm interested in any info about it, as the quality of kit/costume/camp has me really excited.

There were four of us cap-a-pie. We forgot to take any pictures until Sunday, the last show, when I yelled at Patty to catch Victor & my last fight. We only took 6 shots, total. Tom, who is only shown after removing his salade & gauntlets to talk our "tourney armour" fight, (on a different page in that website), has an awesome gothic fluted Burgundian harness made by Alan Bauldri. He & Wayne work in theatre, and do an awesome choreographied fight, utilizing kicks, punches and rolls, and his breastplate/faulds/tassets/besegews allow him to kick from standing and touch my nose. He does sommersaults and rolls to show the crowd how a armoured man is not a "turtle on his back". He and Wayne also are accomplished in martial arts, and when I tried a Fiori half-sword throw on Tom, he knew the counter, and tossed me on my butt to the delight of the crowd. Oh, and did I mention Alan did it all in stainless and their armour looks like a bumper on a '57 Chevy? Victor's and mine are both mild, it rained and I am looking at about 4 hours at the buffing wheel!
