Was there any near-equivalent to our modern bright reds?

I cannot guarantee that your art supply store will recognize these Pantone numbers. It's turning out to be more complex than I thought. Stay tuned.

Conal, I think what we generate our brightest colors from involves some complex chemistry of which the medievals were ignorant.

I visited the art store this weekend, armed with a Pantone number (612 CVC for fish bile green, of course). The numbers supplied from my website that end with “CVCâ€
