The short version is that while its obviously harder to write about "all armour in England that is not in the English style" than to write about "armour in the English style in English effigies" I think that this volume needed to use sources other than effigies and a wider range of research to be a great book. It has a more 'academic' and less practical focus than volume 1, maybe because Capwell has not commissioned and worn armours in these styles.

There are lots of beautiful photos and essays on miscellaneous issues. And its the only study of Flemish and Burgundian armour in the 15th century which I have read.
