Does anyone know of any good resources that contain details of the campaign waged in 1353 by Cardinal de Albornoz? He was carrying out Innocent VI's order to bring the Papal States back under Papal authority. I've found a few mentions of it, but nothing that gives any real attention to the campaign itself.

I believe Tuchman makes a few mentions of it in "A Distant Mirror." I beleive the Sire De Coucy was a commander on this campaign. I'm not sure if she lists any sources for it though.

Not if it's in correct chronolological order in the book. The one you are thinking of is probably Coucy's presence at the campaign by the Duc d'Anjou to take the crown of Naples, in 1382.
Th French in the early 1350's were still recovering from the defeat at Poitiers in 1351. Coucy in 1353 was only 17 years old.
Doesn't help at all with the Papal States campaign, tho'. But have a look at

Thanks. Those New Advent links are where I got started on this whole thing... one innocent little search for a list of Popes and look what happens!
Google is a wonderful thing... though it can be somewhat like the Lotus - partake once and you may never stop partaking.
In fact, I'm off to partake some more now....
