I believe FrauHirsch's lord Sir Arion fights with one on occassion. If I remember correctly, he has documentation for it as well. If you're lucky we may be able to get Frau Hirsch to reply and point you in the right direction...

Hey As,
I've got some primary sources I believe they are 15th century but I might find some earlier ones I'll try to scan some tomorrow and send them to you.

I'm looking for the paintings of them. Found one in my HW Koch "Medieval Warfare" book (pp. 76,77 if you happen to have it).

The painting is from the 15c. The other reference is in another paining in a book about the war of the roses. Also 15c. It's a friends book so I'll have to get it from him. It very clearly shows a curved heater shaped shield with a center boss. That's actually where I got the idea. Works really great for a lefty!

the startup screen for my computer is a plate from the maciejowski or however it's spelt bible, it's the one where they are ahnging king wos-his-name.
in the right side, bottom middle there is a guy who sure as heck seems to be fighting single sword with a harsh curved, center grip heater.
