Hello all....
The group that i'm in is branching out. I'm in the Grey Company in Australia and some of us are starting to make some 15th cent armour. we would like to make this armour as historically accurate as possible... any suggestions as to where to get patterns from?
Many thanks
Derek

thanks Joaquin,
They are a good source to start with, but being in Australia limits my access to them.
What I'm after is some patterns as a starting point, myself and my group already make most of our armour so the skills are there already and are being used, but most of the patterns that i have been able to locate are either German or Italian. I'm mainly chasing identifiably Yorkist or or Lancastrian armour as worn during the so called "Wars of the Roses" Group members have already made useable brest/back plates and we have a prety good helmet pattern now also.
Thanks again
Derek

Look under "Harness" at the top of the page. There is a reconstruction of just what you're looking for. Maybe if you dropped these folks an e-mail, they could offer you a few pointers.
Incidentally, there was a website whose url had been posted here not too long ago that featured pictures of an awful lot of English funeral brasses. I hope someone posts it again...

Grey's company in Aus? Killer!! I'm in Grey's company in Eastern US. What you need to focus on is time frame. armour changed a tad over the 30 years. if your english, you prob look towards german or flemish influences. go here: http://www.wolfeargent.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi its a 15th cent LH board.

No worries, man.
Late 15th century English armour is my favorite subject (well, on par with North Italian armour of the same period...).
I've been pursuing putting together a late 15th century English harness of my own for some time now. I have a suitable cuirass, gauntlets, and full legharness that fit the bill (and cost a fortune!) and am in the process of making/locating/commissioning armharness, pauldrons, and headgear at the moment.
When I have it all done, I'll have to post some pics.
