I am trying to find accurate information on exaclty what was worn in Medieval Spain during the 11th Century. I have found numerous written references to books (most of which I cannot locate; and pictures which leave a lot to be desired as far as trying to figure out exactly what clothing and armor they are portraying... About the closest I can come is the Osprey Books "The Moors The Islamic West 7th-15th Centuries AD" and "El Cid and the Reconquista 1050-1492".... Here are my questions...

1. How can I "convert" the Iberian armor to SCA legal armor and still remain authentic?

2. Does anyone know of any sources for actual patterns to make the clothing? I ahve tried to figure it out from the pictures but they are too vague...

I found this article while perusing the net, and immediatly remembered seeing your post.
http://roxburymill.atlantia.sca.org/Events/Andalusi_Garb/andalusi_garb.html

while it has no actual patterns it still should be helpfull. and as for converting the armor to sca standard..there is no way I know of doing this and remaining compleatly authentic. There are alot of personas out there who would have had little armor even if they could afford the best in their culture and period. what most people do who have this problem is to start with your kingdoms minimim armor requirements and hide any other protection you want or need under a fighting tunic or a chain hauberk if you want to look really spiff. thats all the advice I can offer untill someone more knowlegeable then myself pops in on this topic.
Hope this helped out a bit

Try this

I especially recommend Cariadoc's Miscellany. He has done much research.
