The Armour Archive

I would like to make a 14th century jupon to cover a COP. However, I have not been able to find either a pattern or picture that clearly shows the method of construction. Were they simply pulled over the head? Or attached at the sides or back? Buckles or laces?

Most pictures show that it was a tight fitting garment yet do not show closures of any kind.

Please help.

One of the best sources on early 14th century transitional armour, including coats of plates, is <u>Armour from the Battle of Wisby 1361</u>, which has recently been reprinted by Chivalry Bookshelf. It contains the archeological information concerning th excavation of Wisby, which contained some 25+ coats of plates.
