I've uploaded to my members setion page a bunch of pics of the medieval event that the city of Teruel run two weeks ago.
http://home.armourarchive.org/members/l ... ruel_2004/
It's the 8th edition of the city-wide representation of the history of The Lovers of Teruel (the real event (yes, they were discovered actually buried there, much to the historians' surprise

)that inspired the Lovers of Verona tragedy), and it's a week where half the city dress XIII-century, there are medieval markets, recreation groups reunite, such kind of things.
Of interest for the non-Spaniard members of the Archive is, other than seeing how ugly I am

, this is one of the first main events that the incipient SCA Shire of Alcazar has atended.

I too am confused, they look like SCA fighters but at least one of them is using steel. His helmet also, you could fitt a baseball bat into the eyes. Could this be explaned?

Exactly. These people are f several gupos, both SCA and LH. And actually, the people of the Alcazar Shire are into BOTH SCA combat and living history (I still remember the joking remarks here when I first comented that in this forum...)
The largish "Mad Viking" guy is Jens Ormo, known with that nickname because he is, well, from Sweden

and is the local SCA leadperson, but also belongs to the AEEA (Asociacion Española de Esgrima Antigua) The other one (whose name is Carnicero, "Butcher", and so the nickname) is from Maderuelo, Spanish town hosting the best, most accurate Spanish XII cent. reenactment. Both were crossing steel swords as part of the event, right after Alberto acted as "herald" explaining to the public what was happening in the SCA combat where Jens was having a fighting practice with Mabel, the smaller girl.
BTW, Alberto's helmet is of a kind that was common in XII-XIII cent. Aragon, but which is rather unusual for today's standards. But is very impressive.

Thanks for sharing those pictures. It sounds like a great festival.
*sigh* There are some things which suck about living in a 'young' country.
