Heraldry: demi-sun issuant from chief

Post by Greylond »

Hi all,

I'm looking for some documentation on a charge.. a demi-sun issuant from chief. Not an uncommon motif in SCA heraldry, but one I can't find in a period source as of yet.... the closest I've been able to find thus far is the arms of William & Mary college. And that's not quite period or correct, either.

Help?

The earliest examples I have seen are 19th Cent. I am still looking, and will let you know what I find.
