I'm wanting to get my kit a little more historicaly accurate. I'm trying for a german look, just around the time that splinted arm armour starts to come in.
I know i've seen pics of peoples kits and a couple efigees, But now that i'm looking for them, i cant find anything anywhere. not even a more specific date than the first half of the centry.

anyways, can anyone help me out?

The Germanic limb armour tended to stay with just mail for much longer than the French or English and you will find it difficult to justify extensive splint arm protection prior to at least 1350. It doesn't really seem to become common until the 1360's.
Having a quick look at my pictures, I found only two effigies with both upper and lower arm splints. The effigy of Gottfried von Berheim, died 1335, from Münstereifel, was done in the French style (most likely by French artists) and reflects the French tendency for much earlier adoption of plate additions to the mail. The other effigy, that of Günther von Schwarzburg, c.1350, reflects better the Germanic timeframe for splint armour. However, given it's date and the fact that he was king or pretender to the throne (depending on which side you were on) you will be copying something that is unlikely to have been the norm prior to 1350.

Forearm defences, some of which were splint, were adopted quite early. They were worn under the mail and usually partly covered by the mail sleeve. Such defences can be seen on the effigy of Otto von Orlamünde, died 1340.

I suggest you go for a timeframe close to 1360 if you are looking to have full splint arm protection.
