What is the guy in the center holding the higher end of the chest wearing on his neck?
I have a guess but I’m not sure.
Also what is the fellow in the window holding the pot wearing on his head.
Thanks

the first guy looks like he's wearing something like a panelled plate neck defence, possibly akin to the lamellar neck defence recently discovered at the Roman workshop in Britain...
the second chap you refer to might be wearing something like
this, plus a maille aventail.
However, there's one chap on the left upending a beverage holder who looks to be wearing a spun-top!

It looks like a reinforced fabric coif/liner to me.
Now, the neat thing is under the pick in the center. It's an early push lawn mower.

Looks like a lamelar aventail. It has to be steel, every inch of steel in the picture is painted the same color.
"Also what is the fellow in the window holding the pot wearing on his head."
Scale helmet, my guess would be that it is not a second layer of steel but steel over leather or padding.

Hello, I was looking throught the pictures. Whats with the gold colored elbows and knees, other times its the brim of a helmet, once a whole helm, and other times shields. A few times its the visors of the bascinets. The pictures in question are Numbers, 9, 10, 13, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 25, 27, 30, 32, 33, and 34. Is this latten? Or is this artistic license? Or perhaps its a representation of great wealth, as sometimes its the central figures in the pictures are those with the the "most" gold elbows and such. I dunno, I figure one of you knows more than I about it, in fact I'm sure most of you know more than I. Dougal
