15th Swiss or Southern German Ladies coif help, Cass anyone?

Post by white mountain armoury »

I'm constructing a woman's 15th century Swiss or South-German coif based on the general outline provided by an article in the newsletter of the Company of Saynte George. It's a kerchief-style head-covering with a single knot in the back. I'm trying to figure out size and 3 feet by 2 feet allows enough for knotting and what appears to be the proper "bulk" in the back, but I'm having difficulty figuring out how to resolve the fabric ends in the back. The article simply states "The loose ends of the cloth then are fixed with two pins." Can't really tell what to do with the fabric ends... Does anyone have experience with this type of head-covering? Any advice?

Many Thanks,
Marla
