Do you think I should paint the wedge tent to look like it's thatched? Or should I try to thatch it with hay on site?

Gee, if your going to make a plywood wedge, why not just go with that?

It could be a root cellar or a house of ill repute for all I know!

Peder and Vitus,
I apologize for having barged into your conversation without understanding the context of what you are attempting, but since you were in a public forum I hoped to provide some useful idea.
Peder, I am somewhat confused over your calling this structure suitable for a "military camp". My wife printed the folio in question, where the A-frame appears as the bottom left marginalia. While the man does have sword and buckler, not much else seems to point to this being a military encampment. There appears to be a payment in progress from the woman, and further to the right are scenes of cooking, selling clothing, and baking in an oven sheltered by a similar structure. Why does this structure seem militarily related to you as opposed to being a summer cottage or hermitage?
