Blazon vocab question

My wife and I are working on a blazon/device to register with the SCA. We've decided to do one that represents both of us. I wanted to check with other folks to see if what we have come up with is along the right lines, and what exactly this blazon pattern would be in words. We've got sort of an idea of the words for different parts of the blazon, but no clue on how to put it all together.
"Per fess dovetailed sable and azure" is the base. I was not sure if "dovetailed" was the proper term for it, though we found it on
http://www.sca.org/heraldry/primer/complex.html
On this we have "a talbot sejant argent" up top in the black, and "a dolphin embowed argent" on the bottom in the blue, both centered, both facing left.
I've looked for other examples of similar devices, and searched the online armorial stuff, but haven't had any luck.
Any help? Thanks!

A couple of notes. Both creatures are facing the 'sinister' side of the shield, which is uncommon at best in period heraldry. One suggestion would be to turn them around facing the other side of the shield. If you wanted to keep them in the current positions it would be:
Per fess dovetailed sable and azure a talbot sejant contourny and a dolphin embowed contourny argent.
If you flipped them around you would get rid of the 'contourny' to become:
Per fess dovetailed sable and azure a talbot sejant and a dolphin embowed argent.
Note that I didn't use 'in pale' or the combo 'in chief' and 'in base' because the positions of the creatures are assumed because of the field division.

Gotcha. I originally wanted them both facing the left side of the shield. Eff was probably doing a quick rendering just so I could see, and didn't bother with that detail. No biggie to me, looks excellent either way.

Very handsome. As a purely stylistic suggestion, make your dovetails larger. A line of division should be nice and bold - it should "read" from a good ways away.

Actually I just missed that you wanted 'em going the other way. Sorry.

Eff,
The avatars are excellent. I've tried emailing you a few times about one or two things, but i'm getting returns saying your address doesn't exist. PM'ing you instead.
