The Maciejowski Helm

This bleeds over from a thread on the Armour - Design and Construction Forum:

I have been doing a little more digging into the "Maciejowski" helm and have this to share concerning the construction of the helm:
In this image, there are no rivets seen, save for a single row attaching the top of the helm. Instead of a line and rivets, there is but a single line to show plate division:

In this image, there are no rivets seen, save for a single row attaching the top of the helm. Instead of a line and rivets, there is a double line to show plate division:

In this image, the rivets are seen attaching the posterior plates over top the anterior plates and the upper plates over the lower plates:

Where as here, the helms are shown with the anterior and upper plates over top the posterior and lower plates.

Now, by far the most common depiction has the single line w/o rivets.
Were these actual construction differences that were perceived by the illustrators or were these simply artistic liscence differences?
My wager is that it was artistic difference and that the actual construction method was anterior plates over top the posterior plates.
Any other thoughts? Any other examples from other sources that show different construction methods?
Just the musings of a slower friday afternoon.....
