Another set of photos. Note that b/c of autofocus and the fact that my arthritis was GAGGING me that day, many of these shots are, sadly, very blurry -- I had to ask my wife to do the honors several times b/c I just couldn't keep my hands still enough.

Russ,

Nice pictures. Those plated coats are awesome. What did they date them? Sorry your hands have been bothering you, never fun when trying to take pictures.

Thanks for the pictures.

The brown leather coat is later, 16-18c iirc. The blue, obviously European one, is 13-14c, as is the armored caftan. Said caftan, btw, is leather, iron, and felt. Based on that combo, which I've heard of previously, I'm including a felt layer in most of my steppe-relevant armors.

Russ,

Thanks for the info. Does it still have the Felt layer in it? Thats a pretty interesting piece of armour.

It's still visible, if you blow up the picture quite a bit.

I have seen a private collection of very similar helmets in Georgia (Europe) in better condition, though not good condition, they had a flange around the base and I thought they were from the 'Alans' ?

Nice photos again Russ :)

Depends on which you mean. The one at the beginning of the collection is Cuman. The rest, being "Mongol," could be from damned near anywhere, given the degree of internal movement of their detachments...
