Dark Victory Bascinet opinions?

Does anyone have any opinions or reviews on the bascinets sold on Dark Victory's website?

Hunh... you have to wonder who is making the bascinet for them, since DV is not known for building in steel.

...and a note on the thing not having any vervelle or lining holes, which suggests that you should be prepared to spend some time doing those yourself. OTOH, the helm looks nice (when you hate bargrills enough you can choose not to see them.

The helmets are of foreign origin. At least they were 3 or 4 years ago.
I would recommend buying your helmet from the person that makes it.
Usually the quality control is better.

A local novice recently bought one. Unfortunately, while it didn't have the round look of a spun top, it was effectively round and was too small for safety front to back and too wide side to side.

New fighter here has one.
It rang like a bell and rode high in the back.

We added a heavy chainmaile aventail over a heavy leather skirt to overlap the gorget. Now it's legal.

IMHO, I'd rather spend my $ on the Ironmonger Munition Grade Basinet
