Studded leather greaves, progress pics

Post by Kilkenny »

This pair of hardened leather greaves is getting a covering layer in a lighter, soft leather, and a studded/splinted look.

The decorative brass washers are cut by hand, then punched and the finish shaping done.

Buckles and straps are being mounted with brass hardware rather than directly to the greaves. The mounting hardware is also hand cut, punched and finished.

One finished (ok, as soon as I correct the glitch, it's finished. 2 points for anyone who catches the glitch ;) )

One to go. One of the brass straps for mounting the buckles and straps cracked on me after annealing when I started to form it for mounting, will have to make a replacement.

Should be ready for delivery this weekend.

I would indeed. Do you have any references you could point me to for the specific look you want ?
