Old pic. I think it's Fall of '07
I now have pseudo-winnegas, period shoes, New shield, gauntlets, gambeson, and helm. I wil try to get a pic of me in the new gear soon. I also want to change up my leg armour, and get a low profile arm harness.

Fall Rus Kit
OK Kazimir, because you mentioned Rus, here is my new Fall kit. You may have seen it in the Chain kit thread. Thought I'd post it here as well with a little break down.
The Helm was made by Master Donngal at Windrose Armory.
The lamallar plates came from Jarl Eikbrander at Eldesarian Metal Works.
The hauberk is a flat ring riveted Van Sussen that I hope to replace with a stainless flat ring riveted from Ice Falcon.
The stealth gauntlets are from Count Morgan at Dark Heart Armory.
The saber was made by Paul the Small from Gleann Abhann.
The boots are from Boots by Bohemond.
The tunic was made by my lovely wife & queen Onora.
The embroidery was done by Lady Emma of Wyrmgeist.
The Rus pants were done by Lady Olrun (Rendi) Elidasdottir at Loki's Locker.
The remainder was made or put together by my grubby little hands.
I'm working on another kit that should be ready for the Spring thread.

20 x 36 curved with canvas front and back from windrose. I learned a valuable lesson as well. Never practice with an unpainted canvas covered shield.

That is a beautiful kit.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. -Aristotle

Thanks.
I have not had much oportunity to get my gear out in the last few years.
I still need to do some work on my sabatons. I don't think I have seen you wear your except right after you first got them. I want to replace everything apart from the legs, sallet, and bevor. Time and money will not allow anything but slow progress. I hope to get an arming doublet and voiders early next year. Then it will be time to get the arm harness followed by a brest and back. Depending on funds I may decide to follow your example and get a brigandine as an intermedieate step before the brest and back plates.
I have followed the many pictures you have posted over the last few years with lots of envy.

Hi Tom,
The sabatons got revised and remade, but to no avail. During an accidental mishap in communication they got completely remade at one point and this didn't turn out good. In return for those I'm getting pauldrons made.
Don't be envious, for my progress is slow as well, and only with lots of hard work and determination I got where I am right now.
Just to put things in perspective: I have a full time job of 40 hrs in the week, plus 10 hrs travel to and from the job per week. From about April until mid September I also get to work in a lot of weekends to do shows and displays. This is where I get the money for my kit from. There are several months where I work 7 days a week non stop for these goals. Sometimes in the off-season I get to do shows as well. These are potentially dangerous fireshows and fight demos, as well as stationary displays, with show and tell elements.
By saving all the funds I earn with this work I can buy the things I'd like to have, so it doesn't happen automagically. Luckily I work at a school so I do get some vacation from time to time.
Of course doing these shows isn't just work, but fun as well, but it does get tiresome at some point, and it's still work. Sounds crazy, but going to medieval events to work is very different than the events where you just can relax as well.
It's all about priorities.
I'm not rich, but I'm happy this way.
When I post these images it's not so much about showing off, but because I'm proud of another succeeded step in the direction where I want to go, and hopefully to inspire other people as well. I know I am inspired by looking at nice photo's of great kit.

Ben,
Sorry to hear that, I hope the pauldrons turn out as hoped.
I understand and respect the hard work it takes.
Most people don't understand the time, expense and work required to put a nice kit together. Your pictures and those of others are a big part of what keeps me plodding along. It brings me much joy and inspiration to see what is possible with hard work and determination.
I admire your devotion and energy to keep this going for an extended time. My priorities have been in other places for the last few years. I have a wife, 4 kids, a new house and a demanding job. Over the last 5 years I have spent about 25% of my time in China working. This is the time that previously I would have devoted to historical pursuits. In the next few years I should be able to devote more and more time to my hobby.
Keep it up, it is working!!
