Soak and bake.
I may start using a Titebond glue mixture.

It is 12-14 oz saddle skirting.
Frankly, some of this hide is closer to ten ounce but I'm not using those parts for armour until I get a glue mixture put together.

Not going to Pennsic. Work and all that happy crappy. Meh...
We can get started whenever you want.
Not sure what color you'd want for your husband, but the black pair above is ready to go, I just need to add some straps.
If his shin is @ 12-13 inches long these should fit. Unless he's got soccerballs or toothpicks for calves.

He's a giant. 6'5 280lb. I'd have to measure his calves but he has tree trunks for legs. Anyhow want to email me? That way I can start working on a design for you without cluttering up our pms.

Hey Audax,
It costs a little more, but for what you are doing it would come out ahead buying double backs. You prob have no use for the belly and shoulders you get from a full hide.

Most excellent advice. I'll do that when i buy my next hide. I hate "wasting" leather. I usually find some use, just not for hardening into armour.
