A Civil War moment during the field battles...

Post by Glaukos the Athenian »

Some of you may recall the scene in the movie "Gettysburg" when Lee and Longstreet are riding side by side discussing the war in Mexico and Longstreet says "I don't know. I sometimes feel troubled. Those fellas - those boys in blue - they never quite seem the enemy. "

After the "switch" Atlantia made the big cross field charge and when we turned, I found myself fighting House VDK. The scene and phrase above came to my mind in the middle of the fighting. Of course there is always a higher duty to Atlantia... but I felt weird.

Did this happen to anyone else?

God loves Atlantia.

The East thinks they're pretty good too.

Getting to fight with Sir Kieran/Leo Medi here on the archive was the highlight of my war.
To fight beside those you have fought against makes for an excellent moment.
I am glad we switched it up.
No matter the scenario, East vs Mid, East with mid My unit seemed to fight almost only the Tuchux the entire war

I belong to Clan Yama Kaminari, and camp with them at Pennsic
The clan fights for Aethelmark, which doesn't necessarily side with the East every Pennsic.
It can be complicated.
Sweat in the tiltyard, or bleed on the field.

Well it was kind of the idea behind it. Pennsic had become a little too much of an enemy situation. To the point that there were a lot of folks who did not view the other kingdoms as eternal friends.

My house mercs from time to time so we have fought for many different kingdoms over the years. We routinely have people who live in 3-4 kingdoms and we choose to fight as a household. We had fought for the East for quite awhile because one of our members was an Eastern Baron. But since he left the house, and the effort to make Pennsic fun rather than a hostile rivalry, we returned to the mercenary way of life and had a great time.

It is great to win battles and the war, but it far more important to me that I display honor and prowess on the battle field. While I do like to compete against myself for bodycount, I have never cared which army I fight against. I am there to have fun, and hitting people I know and like can be fun. We fought with Northshield the past to years and got to know many great warriors I would have never got to know beyond the point of a spear.
