Japanese dou (breastplate/backplate)

Post by William Frisbee »

A few months ago somoeone was making and selling a very nice okegawa dou, just the breastplate and backplate, it was very nicely done, and very simple.

I think the person who made them may have started with an H (Halberds?)

If anyone knows can you please point me in the right direction.

I'm trying to get a couple of differeing dou's made and would like to see what is out there, Mykaru is doing a PERFECT job so far, and I don't want all my Japanese armour beat to shreds so I want to mix and match a few sets...

Thanks!

Thanks E-M, although perfect is a long way from the way I see it.

Heh, that's really not worth 2000 in my opinion.

Never the less it's not something I would be wearing for SCA fighting. =)

here is one from Eff's site

Notice the tapering at the waist. they are more or less, horizontal strips, riveted (or laced in some sets) together, with the heads of the rivets ground down (or in some cases exposed).

Eff does have some plans at his site.
