Putting together a kit

Post by ArtemisGreen »

Ok, so a little while back I decided that I wanted to put together a 1370-ish English kit. It was going to be K. Greyson's greathelm from Arador's pattern library, and some other crap thrown together. Now that I have materials, I'm going to get serious about building it.

Now, I'd like to make this harness with as much articulated plate, not maille, as possible. Could anyone show me any websites where I could get good info on making this kit, or at least give good pointers. I need everything (except the helm) from gorget down to sabatons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have something in common, Artemis! I too want to build a kit from the 1370s, though not so completely articulated - yet. I've been to your site, keep up the good work.

Aww. Crud. I just spent the bulk of my money on a bench and angle grinder. Now I have about 35 left, and that's certainly not enough to buy TOMAR.

William- Im just about to crank out some really cool stuff, hopefully. With all these new tools and materials coming in, I'm getting kind of excited. I'll be sure to fill you in on all the tips I learn about my kit. That is if I get TOMAR soon.

Well for ~$50 plus shipping wal-mart has it. So save up ~15 more dollars and buy it. TOMAR will be a very nice investment for any budding armourer.

Technique of Medieval Armor Reproductionm
by Brian R. Price.... Nice book, usefull for beginer...
I also like "Best of the Hammer" series, sometime dificult to read (small caracters) but a great ressouce for armors, blacksmithing, historical revue.

Have you've been to the Brighthelm web site yet? They have a downloadable book on basic armoring techniques and instructions that you might find handy. They also have some patterns (including a Greathelm) that may get you started without buying ToMAR
