Looking for Daggers

Post by Sine Fergusson »

I am looking for daggers. Something nice that perhaps I could gift to friends who get their AoA. I figure I would ask here as I found my one to replace one that went missing. Would any of you know where to look or perhaps have something in your wares you'd sell? Please let me know via PM as I don't always look here.

Thank you!

If you have any leather working skill try www.ragweedforge.com great carbon steel knives that are shaped about right for early personas but the sheath just does not look right. Many of them come with a cheap plastic sheath that protects well for shipping but does not preform well. Some of the more expencive knives have a decent plain serviceable leather sheath.
The knives Ragnar sells are great working knives and come extra sharp.

I would recommend different places depending on your price point, and the period that you want the "dagger" to represent. Any person you buy a dagger for, will probably be more appreciative if it is a dagger that fits with the rest of their kit in time and place.
An 8th cen Dane will have a different type of secondary weapon then a 14th century French Knight or a 16th century Landskneckt (sp). I think if you have more information, like "I want to find crosshilt daggers under $90/ea." you will get more helpful responses.
Personally, because I'm in the SCA, I like my daggers made of rattan (and to have a period hilt) and my live steel to be in the form of a byknife or eating utensil.
But that's just me. (That's a big hint drop there for everyone that is thinking of buying me something for Christmas).
