HELPING OUT A FRIEND AND FELLOW FYRD BROTHER

Post by ruthardus »

I dont really know where to begin with this, except to jump right in. some of you may know Grymmer, a Calontir fighter and the armouer from "Golden Boar" armoury. To be blunt, Grymm has had a run of bad luck in the injury departments. at Lillies war he really broke his thumb bad. That layed him up from armouring for a while. Come Pennsic he got just enough healed to try and take the field with the army, but had been unable to really hammer and work to make anything in the shop. at Pennsic , THE FIRST DAY....he got side swipped and his knee tore in so many places he barely had enough leg left below to justify having 2 boots. Quick...rush home and schedule surgery!
Now the unfortunate reality.... Grymm is not the kind of person to ask for help...he usually is the one giving it. he's a proudly independant man, and he would never be on here asking, but I'm sticking it out and asking for him. He does not have insurance...he's a single father with daughters. He's busting his hump to make a name for himself and his armoury. but he's been without work and unable to make anyhting for the shop for over 4 months. Now I know we as armouers dont make a ton of money, we do it for the passion of it...and none of us can afford to lose even a months wages...and he's 4X that. He's been humbled and I'm asking as a father myself, he needs help for his daughters. He has some stuff in stock at his shop, check it out and see if theres anything you can pick up or need for others, christmas, etc. If not, If there is any funds you can spare he could use it.
right now, he's in bed, with a cast from hip to ankle, and a knee bigger than my ego. I would hate to see him have to start selling shop equipment since that just adding insult to injury, and leaves him with no means to recover after he heals. Besides, most of us newer armouers have equipment so delapidated only we have the mojo to make it work and produce. He has local friends and others here in calontir looking to see what can be done, but its usually not enough. he's a man honor, true to his word, and his promises are like steel. I cannot tell you all that he has done for me and others, and it's time we stepped up for him.
SO, I offering up this helm from my shop in an archive auction to raise money for him. I will run this for 2 weeks and take the highest bid and sent you the helm and him the proceeds. Just post your name and bid, or PM me here, or email me at my armoury web site and I'll keep a running list of the high total and update dailey. again, its for a very good cause.
thank you for your time

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

the helm is made for a person with about a 23" brow. it will fit a larger frame person since the botton flairs out in the back and I have a hidden bar under front occulars to cover upward shots. The construction is 14 guage and some 12 guage in the brow area. Brass finnel, and copper brow plaques. butted 14g wire drape

since no one had bid in a while I decided and went with the current high bid and contacted the individual. I know Grimmer can use the money sooner rather that later...so It's all good. Thank to all of you who offered and responded. we raised quite a bit for him and his daughters through donations and renewed sales of his remaining stock. he called me and profusely thanked my and send his best to all that have reached out to him in the time of need. I am honored to stand next to you in the line, or at the event and better myself from your kind examples.
