We changed our minds on the hylian suit. Instead of Mystic Kavu's articulated breastplate, we decided on a Lorica instead. It's not a matter of liking, it's in the difficulty. It's too dang difficult to cut curves and the like from this stainless we bought. The straight cut can be easier on my angle grinder.
Anyways, I saw this site once that had the pattern for a lorica segmentata that was all laid out on a rectangular sheet. I already checked the Legio XX site and didn't find it. Anyone know where it is?

I do believe the picture you are looking for is:
<img src = "http://home.armourarchive.org/members/valerius/cutmap%20lorica.jpeg">
Unfortunately I don't remember where I got it from so I can't give credit where credit is due. If anyone knows the originator of these cutmaps please let me know and I will update my picture to give proper credit.

This pattern while nice is pretty much useless unless you know the sizing of the person it was made for.
There is no 'generic' segmentata pattern - and wearing a segmentata thatdoesn't fit is an exercise in misery...

Garreth- I saw that one, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for.
Valerius- That's the one!
Sasha Kahn- I'll be doing a posterboard replica first, then up or downsize it as necessary. It's going to be for costume, so the fit doesn't have to be as perfect as you'd need it for fighting. However, 18ga stainless (at least stainless of this type) could be solid enough to fight in, so I think I should do some serious measuring!

Oh Yeah! Check it out...

With all the pieces involved - yes, you will need to take care to make it wearable.

The segs. that my reenactment unit make are 18g for the girdle plates and 16 g for some of the shoulder assemblies. We have used them for both SCA combat as well as full speed/full contact with wooden wasters as well.
