15th century armour buckles...?

Post by MJBlazek »

Hey all,
I just sat down for the first day of my "off season" and took a look at what I need to do next.

And besides new arms/legs, I need to replace the straps on my harness.
I would very much like to replace them with more accurate buckles and straps than i have right now.

So does anybody have any good pictures of 15th century straps and buckles?

Thanks!

There are some decent pics in AAOTMK, most of which on the armor in the back of the book are c1520, I think...

I just looked and did not see any good 15th century buckle pics in AAOTMK, some nice hinges but no buckles. I will look through my museum pics but in the mean time here is a Thaden reproduction from my sallet.

I did some looking at buckles at http://www.bestarmour.com/buckles1.html today there are a lot of them I like. Though I do not know about the bronze.
I really like the dull steel color of my suit, and maybe adding a bunch of bronze buckles would make it look gaudy.

I'm also interested to see different styles of straps from the mid to late 15th century.
