hardsuit list at Lusty Month of May?

Post by Murdock »

Just read the event web site.

I'd love to get some details on the rules and definition of hard suit.

We're not going to have som eguy wrapped in tinfoil and tape like at Red Tower a few years back, are we?

Please say it's real hard suit only!!!!

I've looked through the site, and can't find any definition for what the hell "hard suit" might mean. I would assume it has something to do with armour. If it's a requirement for the tourney, they really should make it clear. When I get home I'll contact the autocrat and see what I can find out.

I've heard some use the term in comparison to light weapons/fencing/rapier. Eg. 'hardsuit' armored or "softsuit" doublets.

Here's the site for the event:

http://www.gpc.peachnet.edu/~sam/lmomii/

Really nice site, except for the lack of that one piece of information.

I've e-mailed the autocrat; I'll note it here if I receive a reply.

I just hope they're not requiring plate. I was planning to wear a gambeson and mail.

I received a reply from Lord Sion, Autocrat of the event:

[BOLD]Greetings, I apologize for any misconceptions. The hard suit tourney
is what my PR'o Crat affectionately likes to refer to as a normal run of
the mill heavy weapons tourney. Please pass it on. As for the tourney, it
will be a standard double elimination as far as it stands now. The prize
is a 15th century Italian Barbute and it is gorgeous. I hope to see you
and all of yours there. Thanks and I will make mention of the reference to
see if it isn't too late to change. Ld Sion Bekote[/BOLD]

So apparently the only problem is that a local piece of slang was used without explanation. Probably not a good idea to use any unexplained term to modify the word "tourney" in an event flyer. In any case, apparently it's a normal tourney. Not sure what I'll do with that barbute; probably swap it for a sugarloaf.

Oh well, what would most Meridians want with a _late period_ closed face_ helm any way?

Course i'd love to get it. But i'd have to win first.
