ConBEASTador! B&W Morion Auction.

Oooh! Look! Instead of my cluttered messy workshop, it's my cluttered messy desk. I R t3h slovenly. Anyway.

14g HR construction.
3/16" round bar welded to edge of brim and cheek plates.
1/4" round bar grill.

Depending on where you lay the tape,
Bowl itself measures about more or less at the brow level
10 1/4" front to back
8 1/4" side to side
28 1/2" circ.

Head 'hole' measures
11" front to back
6 3/4" side to side
It's tighter going on, and then opens up inside the helmet if that makes sense.

I have not weighed it recently, but before I painted it, and put in about half of the rivets Skippy the Senile Shop Scale told me it was roughly 0.5 lbs. I'd guess not much more than that with paint and the remaining rivets put in, probably right around 11 lbs.

It's pretty big. Would probably fit a 24-24.5" head as long as you can squeeze past the narrow opening. I'm at 23 3/4" and it's got PLENTY of room for padding on me.

I am not especialy happy with this piece. From just above the brim and up, it's not too shabby. I'm not pleased withe the brim, and I am less pleased with the grill. There are spots under the brim that have dabs of weld splatter and the like that I just couldn't get grinders into to clean up. The welds on the grill (especialy in the back) where it joins the helmet while sound, are not as cleaned up as I would prefer. It's solid, and it will work, but my skill/patience is not up to the task of siezing it's full potential and making it as refined as it could be. There are only a few armorers that make this style helm, and I now know that there are many reasons why.

The paint is Ace Hardware brand "Rust Stop", black semi-gloss or satin, their equivalent of rustoleum. The interior was sprayed to prevent rust. The exterior paint was applied by hand with a brush. There are brush strokes etc. clearly visible. Some people may find this to be a more period handcrafted touch. Others will doubtless catch me on facebook and remind me that I am a dumbass.

Paint gun, string, books, airsoft bb's, 5 year old newspaper, misc clutter, etc. not included. Just the helmet.

I am selling this absolutely as is, with no waranty, guarantee, or shenanigans involved.

I will run this auction style.
Auction to end Friday February 5, 2010 at about 11:15 PM mountain time (when I get home from work).
Bidding in whole dollar amounts only.
Void where prohibited by law.
Don't sue me. it's not worth your time. I am destitute.
Bidder will need to pay an additional $30.00 for shipping and handling to the main 48 states. AK, HI and international will probably be more.
Starting bid is $300.00
A bid of $600.00 would be what I considered the maximum value of this piece to be , and will end the auction as a 'buy it now' option. At that price I will cover shipping to mainland US.
It looked better in my head....
Damnit.

I'm single, so it's only financial distress. ;)

It'd be worse if it had been a burg.

So, uh...should I be keeping an eye out for a coincidentally matching peascod, arms, pauldrons and gorget? ;) :P

That's very high on the lost of sexy helmets I wouldn't wear.

Nice work and awesome interpretation. I'm not sure how you did it, but all those bars look like they belong there.

The odds are something like 1 in 195,249,054. Coincidentaly, those numbers look very similar to the odds of hitting the powerball jackpot, so... not good. :(

But I would surely bring a special 12 pack just for visiting the Windrose booth if I did.

I could postulate that your need to ask implies that I'm not trying anything, and were simply left debating wheter or not you succumb to said temptation.

Thanks. If you're looking for a challenge, This style will deffinitely present it. Hell I spent something like 4 years on and off mulling over the pattern for the bowl alone. I got pretty lucky with it, but it still needs some minor adjustments I think.
