Well it was suggested that I issue a challenge to take on all Archivers who dare face me this Pennsic... this is not an official decree but a way to find how many would actually be interested and if those that are interested would be willing to donate something to the Chirugens (sp) in order to face me.

I will discuss this with my Knight tomorrow. And then I will let you all know.

E-mail me privately---we can discuss the challenge and what I should donate. After all, it's in a good cause!

I spoke with my Knight today regarding this - he is very much in favor of it. As soon as we check the battle schedule and he knows what security shifts he is working, we'll be able to come up with a day/time.

Thank you to all that are interested - I look forward to fighting you all (and winning). Image

Good!! I will expect every Archiver who fights and who will be at Pennsic to face me. And those that don't fight, but will be there - there is still time to authorize Image

The donation size will be entirely up to each person - I know I am continually financially challenged so whatever can be given will be tremendously appreciated. Especially when I just may have to visit the chiurgens when this is over (providing any of you can give a good fight).

As I will not be able to attend Pensic I've taken your challenge to the attention of my brother Knights in the Midrealm....

I sent an e-mail to Viscount Sir Myles Blackheath and Sir Richard Grylion , both father Knight and brother. Asking them to consent to single sword counted blows of three landed in my stead. the prize for meeting this challenge is a fully stocked Army medics bag. If they are unable to meet this challenge in my stead I invite you to come to Barons War in the Outlands and win your prize in a contest of arms verse me Direct.

My terms are Spears at the barrier to three good blows, single swords at the barrier in the German fashion to Five good blows, and sword and shield to seven good blows...

If I win Two of those bouts I shall have license to set you upon a quest of my choosing to further you upon the Path. If I loose two of those bouts I shall have one year and a day to make you a suitable helm of renoun..

Signed,

Sir Samuel De Grac'e
in the Kingdom of the Outlands,
Barony of Dragonsspine.

PS. Come get some:-)

Well... hmmm...When we get a day/time figured out, then you will just need to look for the short fighter in purple/white with a pig faced bascinet. Don't worry I will make sure you will know who/what to look for - will probably even get a pic of me (in armor) posted as well.

Remember this is a totally new experience for me, having no real idea what I am about to get myself into, so please bare with me while I am tutored on this.

So roughly how many Archivers do get to Pennsic? Can anyone toss me a rough estimate of how many I could be looking at doing battle with?

To the most noble lady Kelley, called the Shameless and Unblushing, does Vitus, master of the Gilded Silence send most heartfelt and humble greeting.
Hail noble lady! May God bless thee and keep yours in his Grace both in this life and the life to come.
I am most pleased that you have decided to take my instigation to heart and endeavor to engage in a noble Passage of Arms, one against many, since in this fashion did the nine Heroines of old earn great reputation and fame among the Kings and good Knights of days long past.
This adventure that you take up shall bring you great honor, for it shall no doubt be a most strenuous undertaking. Heed my words, good lady, for I have had some business in the school of Arms and have myself held ground and bridge against all comers in many lands.
You must be prepared for many guests, and therefore I say to you that you must be long in wind and of great patience. Make sure that thy buckler and estoc be lively and not too heavy, lest your limbs fall into slumber under your great exertions. Make certain that your pages linger near, since they should be there to make note of who shall break lance or wield sword against you, as well as give you drink and to shade you from the sun if you take any respite.
Make most certain that your banner is displayed, and that a good Knight or Squire of Honor will be there to stand as judge and witness to your deed. If all these things are done, then surely your name and arms shall gain great fame in those places where the Virtues are held high. Prepare thy body with training, and sharpen thy skills among thy kinsmen. As for myself, I shall meet you at the ground that you shall hold- where I will bear witness and record your Preaux undertaking.
Done this day in my manor house, in the Year of our Lord 1389.
I remain your most devoted servant-
Vitus Litold, called Slowsword

I also would love to cross blades with you m'lady, but right now my attending Pennsic is sketchy. Please, when you get more information, add me to the emailing.
And Samuel, when and where is Border Raids and would you be willing to extend your invitation to lady Kelly to myself as well?

I'll be at just about everything with a Red "R" next to it ( wife is head-lady-in-waiting)

Since I proposed that challenge to Kelly, You would have to ask her permision to accept on her Behalf...

You misunderstand me, I was wondering if you would be interested in presenting me with the same challenge also. Actually, I would prefer if the helmet part was out of it.
Oh, and I meant to say Baron Wars, not Border Raids. Image

Malaki,

Barons war Im marshall In Charge. BUT what do you need in terms of Chirigien stuff??

send me an E-mail with what stuff you need.
( the aid bag Hasnt been stocked but we got a lot of stuff that goes in one and by pensic would have enough to go in it.
and I'll set up a quest for you to earn the prize..

I will get some single sword in on the barrier at barons war but im fairly commited to marshalling all day. ( we got a lot of Cool fighting going on to include a Real bridge battle with running water under it.)

Nope I only started fighting last year - last Pennsic was the first Pennsic I fought in and that was only in one battle - my armor sh*t on me and got a steel-toe boot in the back of me knee, then my ankle was stepped on by a very big guy.... this year I will be on the field basically all day with my knight. I will be in a purple/white tabard and 3 rabbits w/bagpipes & greatswords (at least that's what I'm guessing since I haven't gotten it yet).

Kelly,
You might want to ask Malcolm about livery. He's a relatively new knight, and he may not have thought about equipping the men-at-arms (people-at-arms Image ) yet. You all might need to get together for a tabard-making night, or something.

Thanks Kyle - he already is taking care of that... the household ceremony is the 21st at the event on St. Swithins Bog, so I'm sure that's when I'll get my tabard. Image

St. Swithens Bog......
Man...I remember fighting in a tourney there YEARS ago....with Valerio Corvenius and Talun the Bastard.
We got these tokens made of wood, with SSB on them.
Since we were all in Landsknecht garb, everytime anyone aked what the SSB meant, we'd say "Some Swiss Bastards....."

Today I am having lunch with my Knight - Syr Malcolm and HRH Syr Andrew and two Bedford aquires to discuss my armor (since I was told I need to look spiffy for this) and the Pas. So this afternoon I should be able to give more info.

Dear lady, I only hope you'll forgive my ugly helm (although I plan to get a new sugarloaf at Pennsic, so maybe you won't be subjected to the sight of my spun-top bargrill).
