taking a squire requirements???

Post by Jasper »

This for knights to state what they look for when / how they take a squire.
I have been a man at arms under Count Sir Ton when he was living in town. He had 2 requirements.
1. with in 4 hours of his house so he could travel to and from his squire for training/fellowship.
2. I was man at arms under Sir James Galen Mcgrew for a couple of years until he offer the belt.

Knights what do you look for?

Jasper, having had similar conversations here is what I came up with and will share what little I have learned.
What every knight looks for in a squire is a varied as the knights are themselves. Though some of the qualities are similar each knight forms his own opinion on what a squire should be and goes from there. I look at things different than my knight did and I am sure different than your knight does.
I have approached potential squires and have been approached potential squires. There is not right or wrong here to me.
Personal bias plays largely into what we think a squire should be and then finding just that right person. Also I do believe the main point that all knights look for is someone they can form a realtionship with as a knight and friend. If you have that the rest falls into place.
