Custom Excalibur/Merlin steel cap?

Post by Therion »

Got an email from someone looking to commission a custom skullcap, a copy of the one worn by Merlin in Excalibur.

He's already gone the lame-ass one-size-fits-no-one "Wizards Skull Cap Ref: GH0174" route and been disappointed.

Anyone reputable and skilled willing and able to make one? I'll pass along an introduction. I have no skin in this game, just following an out-of-the-blue "can you make one of these or suggest someone who can?" request.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Hi

Post by Pitbull Armory »

Hi Therion, I could build somthing like that for sure, but since there is no padding involved, and each melon is slightly different, It would need a perfect fit or it would be painfull or look bad, Id need the person to be in my shop to get it right.

Take care

That was my EXACT thought....
Without the person there, or a head cast, he's kinda back at the "one size fits all" unhappy place.
"As far as setting down a drinking horn, historical records show that proper Viking etiquette was to simply jam the pointy end into the nearest non-Germanic person should one need his hands free...
y'know, if you had to pee....."

I'll happily recommend him your way.

Thanks, Pitbull!
