Looking for recruits!

Post by Thomas Frank »

I am the costume director for a 16th/17th century re-enactment group that has the dubious distinction of providing a military prescence at Tyhe Bristol Renaissance Faire. One of the recurring issues that we have is that there are activities, such as historical swordfighting and pike manuevers, that we would like to bring to the publics attention. Unfortunately, we frequently do not have the numbers to adequately engage in the activities we would most want to participate in.
I am posting this , as we are currently in the process of starting our rehearsals for this seasons faire run, which starts in May. If you have an interest in mid-late 16th century infantry tactics, and would like to join our group for the run ( an unprecedented 9 consecutive weekends of being able to prctice your swordwork/small unit tactics) you can contact us through our website at http://gsmbristol.org/. We make an extremely stong effort to accurate in our portrayal of an Elizabethan England town militia/trayned band.

I forgot to mention that the primary target are for this group is Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin!
Sorry about my forgetfulness!

Thomas Frank, Jr.

Hi,

First of all good luck with your endeavour. But - could you do me a favor? Please do not use the N-word in connection with our hobby or similar things. You might not only hurt other peoples' feelings, but also harm your own reputation. At least one could question your knowledge of 20th century history.

Oh, and please do not take this personal because of this post. This is more of a general comment on a very frustrating part of SCA/reenactment/medievalist nomenclature.

Thanks for your understanding!

The edited word was one used to refer to a member of the nationilist socialist german workers party. These are also the cahps that rounded up gypsies, homosexuals, and People of hebrew decent to be exterminated in camps (that is unless you believe this nutjo---err person: http://www.giwersworld.org/ )

Figure it out yet?

Hi all!

Yes, the message has been edited - and I'm thankful for that. Ok, the authenticity N*** phrase is not an overly big thing, but I think it throws a bad ligth on us.

Thomas: Sorry for the first reply being a negative one. I hope this does not cause you to loose faith in this forum - it's a great source of advice.

Have a great weekend!

Realized later after I had posted on what I had written, as it is a subconcious phrasing, so when I had an oppurtunity again I edited the message. Hopefully it didn,t aggarvate anyone too much!
