finished 2 new Kabuto's

Post by ruthardus »

The shikoro panels are NOT punched for laces, since the lacing patterns are so diverse per period and clan. I juts put a few retaining holes in the planels to fit them to the kabuto. The plain metal one is being shipped so the customer can powder coat it.

Gargoyley Kabutos.

Nice. Are they staying bare, or are they getting paint/lacquer?

I dont know a whole lot about Aisan armor
So I dont feel so bad asking this
what are the flaps of what i assume to be leather that are folded back on the sided for
seems to me that they would catch swords and jerk the head around

The shikoro (the neck guard) is laced together, and the fukigaeshi (lit. "blowbacks") in front were designed to prevent a downward swordstrike from sliding between the lames and cutting the lacing.
