Black Swan/HE review

Just received my 15th Arming Doublet. Bottom line..Perfect! Great quality, good fit, and it will complete my 15th Century kit.

Price was a little high but in my opinion not for the quality that you get with this Doublet. Extremely well made. I have checked around for a while trying to find a less expensive one. But in this case, you do get what you pay for. This doublet will last for a long time and serve me well. Worth every penny! Yes, I bought it for SCA combat.

Shipping...took a little while to get but that's ok. When you order made to order items, you have to expect some time. Ordered in March, received early July. I received communication through the whole process letting me know of delays and status. No problem, great communication.

Highly recommend the arming doublet through Black Swan Designs and Historic Enterprise. Ulrich

Like Jehan, I must say, I've never had a case of buyers remorse when dealing with HE. Thats kind of rare in this hobby. I had a couple of bits of armour that wasnt a "perfect" fit. But they were so well made, historically accurate and so pretty to look at, I didnt care. And they fit well enough. :wink:

HE is a tough act to follow. High quality stuff, great attention to detail, good customer communications, good prices. What more could you ask for?

Quicker turnaround times?

Thanks for the reviews guys, but I'll be the first one to admit my turnaround times are not what I'd like them to be.

I'm glad that you understand when I send out the 'sometimes demand exceeds our ability to produce things in a timely manner' notes, but I wish I didn't have to send them.

Our clothing isn't cheap**, but remember everything comes with a one-year warranty, and that applies to the arming doublet as well.

I did fix that for him, didn't I! I had forgotten about that little incident. That was the old design too- I wonder how the new one would hold up to such shenanigans.

I should probably try to find someone to do that, it would make a great thing to embed in the product description!
