Historic Combat Series at Gulf Wars (need replies by 11/6/02 5pm eastern).

Ok here is the bad news. I’ve been informed that I can only run 1 tournament at Gulf Wars this year (I am going to keep pushing to be able to run more, but I have no idea how successful I will be). They’ve asked I run a Grand Pas, but I wanted to see if there was more demand for a different tourney. So which one do you want? (I’d like to here from anyone interested, but I’ll give more weight to those who actually plan on attending).

Plate and Mail
Grand Pas
As Real Men Fought
Sword and Buckler

Description of the tourneys can be found at http://www.historiccombat.org/pennsicxxxi.html for anyone who hasn’t read the discussion up till now.

I'd like to reply back to the Gulf Wars battlefield coordinator tomorrow so post soon.

Thanks,

Asbjorn

Hmm.. I'd like to see these two most:

As Real Men Fought
Sword and Buckler

Of the two, I'd prefer the As Real Men Fought style..
I like counted blows and weapons counting for more based on weapon type..
mmm.. mass carnage.. of course great swords at the barrier ranks as one of my new favorite things =)

"As real men fought" gets my vote.

Why were you/we limited to just one tourney?

Hey, Asbjorn,

When are you thinking about having your tourney? I am a member of the Company of the Grail (Ansteorra based), and we've contacted the autocrat and Earl marshal to also run a Pas. We're shooting for a Wednesday afternoon time slot (opening ceremonies have been moved to Wednesday morning). We'll have counted blows, matched weapons, and barriers.

I'd like to see "as real men fought", myself.

I checked with GW. They have the company of the grail on the schedule for a Passage of Arms as well, but they still want me to do a Grand Pas. While normally I wouldn't object to running a pas I'd really prefer to run something different, but I guess we'll be having at least 2 pas de arms at Gulf Wars.

Despite a second request they still won't let me run a full schedule.
