Review for Master Eirik's Rattan

Post by mjaay »

So I was initially going to post a half way whiney review that the flat sidded lengths that I ordered looked more like just plain old shaved. Then I checked my e-mail and realized that I am a jack a$$ and that shaved is exactly what I ordered.

I got two lengths of standard rattan to practice on and two shaved lengths to go for some finished practice stuff.

5 stars out of 5 for both as well as the customer service and shipping. The shaved lengths are perfectly shaved, the standard lengths are incredibly solid and uniform. Have not messed with the thrusting tips yet but they look exactly as advertised.

Long story short I highly recomend them!

For those few that don't know, here's the website:

I never stay in one place for three of my opponent's blows. I also never let my opponent throw three unanswered blows. Standing in front of your opponent lets him perfect his pell technique. Most fighters are very good against a pell. - Duke Gyrth

Not at all, it was 100% user error. The website is set up great. I remember thinking to myself "I want the shortest length they have!" So all I was looking at was the length and not the style.

The 30 inch length unfinished is a BEAST. I decided I am going to leave one unfinished, tape it up to as heavy as it can get and use it for training. Having it that thick at the handle makes for a serious grip and wrist workout with just practice swings on a bag.

If anyone is still getting rattan from furniture stores you need to check this stuff out.

Actually, I do think I need to work on distinguishing them a little better. THere have been a couple other near-misses. But thank you!

How about adding more categories? Instead of just rattan sword lengths, have separate categories for shaved, unshaved, etc.

got my order today looks great, some of the thrusting tips are abit squished but i think they'll be fine eventually. I'm impressed with the speed he got it to me.
