Stolen Dagger Scabbard

Post by Amanda M »

I was wondering if you guys could help me keep an eye out for my dagger scabbard. The chape fell off and got lost, so I sent it back to Sir Vitus to get replaced. But the box arrived EMPTY. So someone stole it out of the box while it was in the post office's custody. It's black with red trim and a black belt, without the chape on the end.

I can't find my shipping receipt so I'm not really sure what I can actually do about it except get pissed and go yell at someone.

That really SUCKS.

1) that's a felony.

2) can't see why someone would open, take, and reseal package for a dagger scabbard less they knew what it was?

Keep my eyes open for it.

On a different note...your sword and dagger look great
The fact that the price must be paid is proof it is worth paying.

I thought the same thing. It wouldn't be valuable to someone who didn't know what it was. It seems weird and random.

The sword and dagger were made by Eldric von Atzinger. I got the whole shebang from Haus Atzinger as a set. :(

That sucks hardcore.

I don't know you, but I do know Sir Vitus and his abilities to make things right.

In anticipation of that, would you mind if there was a collection started to "Buy Isabella E. a new dagger scabbard."

I'd be in for $10. Just gotta figure out a way to get you or Sir Vitus the money!

Ditto.

$10 from me as well. Wrongs must be righted.

Someone near Sir Vitus with a Paypal account that can receive the money and hand it to him (he does not do Paypal)

I sent Earl Giles while he was in Germany a book once. His wife got a phone call asking if he'd gotten it. He hadn't.

He asked if I'd called him (from KS).

I hadn't.

So someone at the US Army Post Office STOLE his book and asked if he'd gotten it. :?

Part of it is my fault though. I didn't insure it. Stupid on my part. I appreciate the sentiment. It's not Sir Vitus' responsibility to make me a new scabbard. He's got enough crap going on right now as it is. Anyhow thanks for keeping an eye out for me. :) I'm not sure what I can really do to make the post office make it right.

You did check to make sure you actually PUT IT IN THE BOX right?

Second.. it could have been a crushed box/tape failure.. it fell out, and hey had no idea what/where it was supposed to go.

Call the post office. Explain your concern. Give them the tracking number (if they have one) and describe what you are looking for.. it could be sitting in the big bin of lost schtuff at the front of a sort center or loading dock somewhere.

I did check. When I got home I looked around for it and it's not here. That was my first thought because right now I'm spread so thin personally that it wouldn't be out of the question that I forgot to put it in there.

I'll check as soon as I get the label info from Sir Vitus and see if it's maybe sitting around somewhere.

The Post Office is a buerocracy, but they aren't out to rip you off. Call em, ask.. the tracking number should help (if there is one) cause they can tell where it went and when.

if you get rebuffed, move up a level. It is, after all, a custom made, one of a kind, heirloom you lost.

This, I work for another shipping company, and see this type of thing all the time. Your scabard may be sitting in a storage area waiting to be sold off or it could have been mangled in some machinery.

If there was other items in the box then someone probably looked quicklty and thought everything was inside and retaped the box and sent it on it's way.

Get ahold of the post office with pictures and a discription ASAP.
