Darkening aluminum chainmaille

Post by Ulrich Halfdan Ulfsson »

Does anyone know a way to take some of the brightness out of aluminum chain? Love the weight, not crazy about the "hit me here" brightness.

Powder coating...It's what I did with mine. Fairly inexpensive too. I got a Haubergeon done for $26 and an aventail for $16.. Just plain ole Black magic which is a flat black .

Link may be good, but privacy setting on facebook too high... instead of taking link from address window of your browser, you must copy the "Share this photo with anyone by sending them this public link:" link at the bottom of the facebook page containing the photo, I think.

How does the powdercoating hold up in combat? Do you ever have to get it redone?

So far it's been doing very well.. Have a couple very small bits where it's rubbed off.. A quick shot of flat black spray paint fixed it... But all in all it has held up better than I actually anticipated..
