(SCA) Using dead Boogie boards for pole arm heads

Post by Ringlancer »

Anybody here tried it?

I'm in the process of obtaining an old board, going to chop it up for a pollaxe and maybe something with a hook.

Just wondering if people have had success with this or no.

People have had success with that (that's very common here in Calafia) but I really don't know the exact technique.

Yup, works fine - here's two pictures showing a partisan I made years ago from a boogie board. The secret is that rather than slapping tape on willy-nilly, use several hundred 5" long pieces of high quality strapping tape carefully applied. (method for making *any* polearm head aesthetically pleasing, not just a boogie board head)

That's what full plate and Texas weather'll do to you!

Yup - that's what *wanting* to wear full plate in Texas weather does to you!

I have a steel black&white set for WMA fighting, and a pl@$tic black&white for SCA fighting - and folks down here tell me I'm "wearing too much armor" for SCA .... it's tough being an armor junkie in a semi-tropical environment ... good thing one of my best life-skills is sweating excessively ...

You're supposed to be working, not surfing the Archive! Image

Yeah, the double-edged sword of the Internet finally caught up to me about two months ago. I was discovered by the net-nanny programs, and now I'm blocked some places in the "Weapons and Other Dangerous Things" category ..... I guess I really can't complain, since my site *is* all about selling weapons and armor, but being censored is pretty annoying Image.
