new arms. (Thanks to Magnus's pattern help)

Post by Varukh »

Just finished my new arms. Thanks to Magnus for pointing me in the right direction with the elbow cop pattern.
Hand cut, hand stitched, and wax hardened.
Hope you like em. :)

Those look quite burly! Well done!

Will they be hidden or no? Either way they are very nice! They have a certain professional quality to their appearance.

I like em!

Very neat, well done. I enjoy seeing your armour evolution and am impressed how far you raise your bar each time you make a new iteration.

thank you very much! :D
They will probably be worn under my tunic, but i thought I'd try to make them nice enough so that if they decided to peak out from time to time, no one would really care. :D

And it shows. Poster Kilkenny (Duke Sir Gavin) may become quite a fan of your crafting. You're ready to talk serious technique with him now.

Wow. Nice clean lines and it looks like you molded in a bit of a flare at the wrist of the vambrace. Nicely done!

Hey Swete, care to share some info on your elbows? I'm futzing around with a pattern for them, and would love to hear how you did yours. (Unless its Magnus' trade secret or something)

Thanks,
Randy

the elbow cop is just a variation of the one on the AA with the round pieces of leather stitched over the top of them just to add a little more protection on those points of my elbow. The forearm section is just a generic pattern for a vambrace that i just found online and added some leather splints to it. then i wax hardened the whole thing and slapped it together. not sure if that is any help for you or not, if you have any more specific questions i will answer them as best i can. :)

Nice set of arms, I like em.
Thanks for the pics.

Russet patina on the metal parts would look nice.
Perhaps... blend in with the brown of the leather.
YMMV

PS:
Chemical russit patina.

Hehe! Never been confused for someone else here. I, unlike Varukh, have very little leather skill.
